About Oregon Trail Recovery
Oregon Trail Recovery runs its sober living program out of private residential homes in Milwaukie, a suburb just south of Portland. The houses are equipped with cable, internet, comfortable outdoor spaces, and more. Separate houses for men and women keep the environment focused, and the structured first two weeks without electronics helps new residents get grounded as they reintegrate into everyday life.
The clinical side includes both intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs that utilize evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. One of the more unique features is the Wellbriety program, a recovery curriculum rooted in Native American traditions that incorporates drumming circles, sweat lodges, Pow Wows, and the Medicine Wheel alongside standard 12-step principles. It’s open to everyone, and for a lot of people it adds a spiritual depth to recovery that other traditional programs don’t always offer.
Being just outside Portland means residents have a lot to work with on their days off. Mt. Talbert Nature Park is practically in the backyard, and Forest Park, one of the biggest urban wilderness areas in the country, is a short bus ride away. The Portland Saturday Market, OMSI, and the city’s famous food cart scene give residents lots of ways to get out and stay active when they’re not attending therapy.
